Mansion in Ghent

Quiet central location

Our family home, located on the edge of the Macharius district, overlooks the tree-lined canal ‘Pauwvaart’ and is a stone’s throw (800 meters) away from the historic center of Ghent, Portus Ganda (100 m) and St. Baafssite.

The location is truly enchanting, with the city’s rich history at your doorstep. We also like to welcome cyclists. B&B Big Sleep is located on a cycling route and your bicycles are also safely stored in the courtyard.

Mansion from 1890

B&B Big Sleep is a renovated mansion from 1890. A unique corner building with garden and swimming pool within walking distance of Dampoort station. Moreover, our B&B is quietly located along the Napoleon De Pauwvaart.

Bed & Breakfast Big Sleep is therefore an ideal base to discover the wonderful city of Ghent in all its facets. Both the old city center full of beautiful buildings, wonderful places on the Leie and youthful atmosphere, as well as the new Dok Noord district.

Stylishly furnished

The soul of the building has been lovingly preserved over the years. You will find an eclectic mix of authentic elements, supplemented with references to the many travels that Michaëla has made over the years. And of course you will have all modern comfort and you will stay in touch with the outside world thanks to the free wireless internet that is available throughout the house.

Breakfast area

You can enjoy a delicious breakfast in the colorful breakfast room with an almost 4-meter-high original coffered ceiling and large windows overlooking the rippling water, lined with plane trees. The original plank floors, marble fireplaces and gilded mirrors complete the whole. You also enjoy pure luxury because the delicious and extensive breakfast is served at the table.

Inner garden

Want to relax after a day of enjoying Ghent? Or perhaps your trip to the coast, Bruges or Antwerp? Our guests have access to a beautiful courtyard garden, complete with a heated outdoor swimming pool during the summer months. Dream away with a good book and a drink. Musing about another beautiful day. Or even dreaming slightly impatiently about tomorrow...
